Sheep Jones, an artist from Virginia, has been showing her work at  the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria and was chosen from 140 artists as Artist of the Year in 2003. Her whimsical figurative work and still  life oil and encausitc paintings are a wonderful addition to the  gallery.

Julie Cyr, a painter from Portsmouth, NH, who has had careers as a  professional musician, singer, songwriter and as a registered nurse  is now focusing much of her time on painting.  Julie’s paintings of   buildings have a very solid, strong feel to them while having a sense  of mystery.  Her paintings of birds and animals can also claim the  description of “whimsical.”
